One vehicle was stolen and four others were burglarized in a span of two days this week in Florham Park, police said.
The incidents on Columbia Turnpike, Brooklake Road and at the Brooklake Country Club have authorities urging car owners to lock their doors and remove their key fobs.
According to Capt. Robert Treiber, Officer Brian Sampson was dispatched to 123 Columbia Turnpike at about 3:40 p.m. Monday for a reported burglary to a motor vehicle.
The vehicle owner said he parked the 2012 Black Audi A6 in the parking lot at about 2:15 p.m. and when he returned at about 3:30 p.m., all four windows were completely down and his iPhone and leather briefcase were missing from inside, Treiber said.
About a half-hour later, Officer Brian Mensing responded to a Brooklake Road residence where a man said his father-in-law had seen a black Audi backed into the driveway with two unknown men inside, Treiber said. The man's father-in-law also saw someone going through a Mercedes Benz parked in the driveway, Treiber said. The man thought the individuals may have been friends with his son-in-law and he continued into the house. The Audi and the three men departed without taking anything from the Mercedes, Treiber said.
Officer Dave Rubelowsky responded to Brooklake Country Club shortly before 5:30 p.m. for a report of a stolen vehicle, Treiber said.
The owner said he parked his 2011 Mercedes Benz model S55 in the parking lot at about noon and discovered it stolen at about 5 p.m., Treiber said. The victim left his key fob in the vehicle, which was valued at about $80,000, Treiber said.
Officer Sampson arrived at the country club at about 5:30 p.m. for a reported motor vehicle burglary, Treiber said. The owner said he parked his 2012 Mercedes CLS in the parking lot at about 11:15 a.m. and found the center console of his car open and items thrown within the vehicle when he returned at about 5 p.m., Treiber said.
The owner said a bag containing a Rolex watch valued at $25,000 and a pair of dress shoes was also stolen from the trunk, Treiber said. The owner said the vehicle was locked, but he left the key fob on his tire, Treiber said.
The burglary spree continued on Tuesday when Officer Mensing responded to 131 Columbia Turnpike for a report of items stolen from a 2006 Porsche sometime between 12:30 and 6 p.m., Treiber said.
The owner said he discovered his trunk was open and several items were missing, including two leather bags valued at $600 and a pair of gold shoes valued at $200, Treiber said.
The owner said the vehicle was locked and the key was removed, but he left the driver's side window cracked for air, Treiber said.
