The Adult School, founded in 1937, was one of the first independent, nonprofit community education organizations founded in the State of New Jersey. The goal of the Adult School is to serve the local communities by providing a wide variety of life long learning experiences in an informal atmosphere. For seventy–six years the school has been offering local residents courses to enrich their personal and professional lives and to assist them in resolving personal and community problems. Over the past 4 years The Adult School has successfully supported over 15,000 adult learners.
Dr. Victor Schumacher, President of the Board of Trustee stated, “Serving on the board is a wonderful way to give back to the community, support lifelong learning, network and develop or gain new skills to use in the work place.” He further noted that the board welcomes individuals with a diversity of skills but is especially interested in recruiting candidates with expertise in fundraising, grant writing, nonprofit management , social media or marketing.
