South Street Toastmasters to Host Open House

South Street Toastmasters, Where Leaders Are Made, will host a free Open House on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from Noon – 1PM at the Morris County Library, 30 East Hanover Avenue, Whippany, New Jersey.  Reservations to attend the Open House are not required but are helpful. South Street Toastmasters President Joel Remde (of Chatham) noted that individuals reap many benefits from joining and participating in meetings including:  standing out at job interviews or in staff meetings. Remde stated, “The ability to speak clearly, confidently, coherently, and concisely makes you visible and memorable.”  He further noted that according to a studycited in 2009 Time Magazine article those who speak up in groups are perceived as more intelligent than those who do not, even when they are less knowledgeable.

Vice President of Public Relations Michelle “Glod” Feingold (of Morris Plains) noted that she joined South Street Toastmasters to advance her career.  She stated, “As a graphic designer, I usually can hide behind my computer. However, my boss presented me with a wonderful opportunity, to be more client-facing. I expressed my nervousness to a co-worker and she encouraged me to check out Toastmasters.  Since joining South Street Toastmasters, I have found the confidence to use my
voice not only at work, but also by contributing to the professional organization for creatives, the Art Directors Club of New Jersey.”
