Whippany Park High School Marking Period 3 Character Counts Award

Whippany Park High School awards sophomore Kyle Mednick with the Marking Period 3 Character Counts Award.

Caring, citizenship, fairness, trustworthiness, responsibility, and respect for self and others are among the key factors of good character. Many of the students at Whippany Park High School exemplify these pillars of character education, and each marking period, the Whippany Park community presents the Character Counts Award to students who represent these outstanding traits.

Sophomore Kyle Mednick, described by one teacher as “one of the most dependable students I know,” displays good character through his dedicated involvement in his school and community. In addition to being a member of the Marching Band and the Rubik’s Cube Club, he is very active with his church.

Kyle truly exemplifies the six pillars of character:  he demonstrates caring and citizenship through his involvement with Peer Buddies and the Family and Consumer Science Club. His responsibility and trustworthiness are shown each time he develops and implements community service projects such as writing letters of gratitude to our troops, creating holiday decorations for the Par-Troy Nursing Home, and making commemorative angels in memory of the Sandy Hook Elementary School victims. As one faculty member puts it, “He is one of the most respectful and genuine students I know. [He] has the strength of character to be true to his own unique style.”
