Christie Comes to Florham Park, 'Plants' a Tree, Talks Job Growth

Governor welcomes health firm Zoetis to town.

Florham Park has a new major company as a corporate resident. Gov. Chris Christie was in town Monday to welcome animal health firm Zoetis with a ceremonial tree planting at its new headquarters, the Daily Record reported.

Christie symbolically planted a Red Oak, New Jersey’s state tree, and then gave a speech comparing New Jersey's resilience to that of a growing oak. He told the crowd that Zoetis's investment into the Garden State will help produce economic growth for the state and jobs for residents. The governor also noted that New Jersey is becoming a hub for animal health companies, the article said.

Zoetis, which according to the Daily Record was once was part of Pfizer before branching off into a separate enterprise in early 2013 and now is the largest independent animal pharmaceutical firm in the world, moved to Florham Park, bringing 400 of its workers, in June. The move was made possible thanks to a 2012 $14 million New Jersey Economic Development Authority Business Employment Incentive Program Grant.
