East Hanover Man Admits Defraudeding IRS Out of $167K

Construction workers for Parsippany company were paid in cash, US Attorney says.

Two employees of a Parsippany construction company have admitted to receiving tens of thousands of dollars from their employer and not claiming it on their income tax, United States Attorney Paul Fishman announced.

Carl Corso, 59, and Joseph Carsillo, 46, who were both employed by Chimento Construction Services, each face up to three years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.

Carsillo, of East Hanover, pleaded guilty to subscribing to a false personal federal income tax return after receiving cash wages from Chimento Construction Services from 2009 to 2011, totaling $167,466, Fishman said.

Carsillo also admitted to making false statements about his combined monthly income during a six-month period while at a bankruptcy hearing in 2011, Fishman said.

Corso, of Hamilton Township, deliberately omitted cash payments he received from Chimento Construction over the same three-year period, totaling $97,346, Fishman said. Corso also admitted to collecting $19,988 in unemployment benefit checks beginning on Nov. 1, 2009 while being employed by Chimento, Fishman said.
