Community Corner

Wild Vegetable Fermentation @ Essex County Environmental Center w/ Dan Farella

Saturday, May 18th - 11am to 1:30pm - $30

This workshop will offer hands on experience, and empower you to make your own healthy fermented foods at home without the use of electricity or refrigeration.  Foods you will learn to make include sauerkraut, pickles, and kimchee.  We will explore the process of fermentation, the many ways of flavoring with spices, as well as tasting and adding fermented foods to your already existing meals. We will also discuss the magic and sacredness of the process from the alchemical perspective, as we learn the healing effects of consuming these nourishing, healing foods. Each person will leave with a jar of fermented “kraut-chee” and the knowledge to care for it, eat it, and make lots more!

For adults only.  Advance registration and payment are required; call 973.228.8776
