Opiate Overdose Reversed Following Car Chase: Florham Park Police
Multiple Morris County police departments contributed to pulling the car over and saving a life.

FLORHAM PARK, NJ— Officers from multiple Morris County police departments worked together to revive a woman from an opiate overdose, after the car she was a passenger in was pulled over for driving erratically, Florham Park Police said.
Police noticed a car driving erratically on Route 24 westbound strike the guardrail just before 1 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers attempted to pull the car over on Route 287, but it kept driving, eventually pulling onto Harter Road in Morris Township.
Once the car finally pulled over, police saw a woman in the passenger seat unconscious and "experiencing a medical issue," police said. They determined it was an opiate overdose.

Morris Township Police Officer Diego Pinheiro administered Narcan nasally, reversing the effects of the overdose. The woman regained consciousness and was taken to Morristown Medical Center for further treatment.
The driver, Daniel J. Demico, 55, from South Plainfield, struggled with police as he was removed from the vehicle. He also showed signs of drug use, police said.

Demico was arrested and charged with eluding, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, and unsafe lane change. He was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending an upcoming court date.
Officers from Mendham Borough, Harding Township, Morris Township, and the State Police assisted Florham Park Police.
