State Troopers Revive Elderly Man Who Stopped Breathing On Turnpike In East Windsor: Police

The man also had no pulse when the troopers arrived.

East Windsor, NJ -- A pair of New Jersey State Troopers revived an elderly man who stopped breathing while traveling on the Turnpike in East Windsor on Monday.

Trooper II Charles Travis and Trooper Ryan Sleva, of Troop "D" Cranbury Station, used CPR to revive a 74-year-old man who stopped breathing at milepost 67.7 at about 3:02 a.m., according to State Police.

A family member had stopped there and alerted State Police when he noticed the man had lost consciousness and stopped breathing. When the troopers arrived, the victim had no pulse.

The troopers removed the victim from the car, placed him on the ground, attached automated external defibrillator (AED) pads to his chest, and began CPR.

After several minutes of CPR, the victim regained a pulse and started to breathe. Robert Wood Johnson paramedics and local first responders arrived shortly after the call and continued to provide first aid.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton Township where he was last listed as in critical, but stable condition.
