Teens Indicted On Murder Charges In Fatal Mercer County Shooting: Prosecutor
Divon Ray and Zakeem Brown have been indicted in connection with the May 2016 shooting of Ricardo Montalvan, Jr.

Two teenagers have been indicted in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Ricardo Montalvan Jr., of Trenton, Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Doris M. Galuchie said on Friday. Divon Ray, 17, and Zakeem Brown, 18, were each indicted on one count of first-degree murder, one count of first-degree felony murder, one count of first-degree robbery, one count of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon. They were both waived up to adult court from juvenile court in September, and have remained in jail on $250,000 bail since.
Trenton Police discovered Montalvan Jr. in a silver Toyota Camry suffering from at least one gunshot wound after responding to reports of a shooting in progress and a man shot in a parking lot at 212 Whittaker Avenue around 9:50 p.m. on May 12 of last year.
He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m.
Ray was arrested immediately after the shooting. Brown was arrested by members of the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force about a week later.

Ray was 16 when he was arrested, and Brown was 17. Friday morning was the first time they were identified by the Mercer County Prosecutor.
The charges are the result of an investigation by Detective Robert Booth and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force.
