Middlesex College Engineering Students Gain Hands-On Experience in Construction on Edison Campus (TAPinto.net) β Middlesex College students in Edison spent the summer working alongside engineers on a new sustainable microgrid and solar carport project right on their campus, gaining experience impossible to get in class. Their internship with DCO Energy included everything from concrete pours and crane lifts to project documentation and safety, directly improving the Edison campus while building real-world career skills.

Handling conflict through peer mediation: how students, teachers and staff benefit (mediate.com) β Students at Woodrow Wilson and Herbert Hoover middle schools in Edison are helping resolve conflicts through a growing peer mediation program that shifts responsibility from adults to trained student mediators. Backed by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation, the initiative teaches empathy, accountability, and communication, and Edison educators say they're already seeing fewer disputes and a more positive school climate.

Oprah-Backed Restaurant Chain Files For Bankruptcy, Abruptly Closes 12 Locations (dailyvoice.com) β A True Food Kitchen restaurant in Edison has abruptly closed after the Oprah-backed chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and shut down 12 locations nationwide. Staff were told after Sunday's final service not to report for shifts, though they'll be paid for hours worked and keep benefits through October while some may transfer to other locations.
