Edison Approves $10M Contract For Youth Sports Facility
The initial amount earmarked for the project was $5 million.
EDISON, NJ – The township recently approved a contract worth $10.8 million for building the sports recreation facility.
The initial amount earmarked for the project was $5 million.
Council gave its nod to the project during a meeting held last month.

However, Councilman Richard Brescher abstained from voting citing the high cost of the project, which was more than what the governing body anticipated.
“I’m not in favor of a $10 million building,” Brescher told Council. “I don’t think we need to have a Ferrari here, and I think that’s what we are building.”

The Councilman suggested cutting back on some architectural features that would have little to no impact on children.
Business Administrator Sonia Alves-Viveiros said the funds will come from 2022 capital improvements and other bond ordinances.
