Edison Man Found With Loaded Handgun During Traffic Stop, Police Say

As the man was removed from his vehicle, police said a "large quantity" of marijuana also fell out of his lap.

EDISON, NJ — An Edison man was found with a loaded handgun and marijuana during a recent motor vehicle stop on Route 18 northbound, East Brunswick Police said.

Jordan Laroche, 22, was pulled over for “numerous motor vehicle violations” at 11:42 p.m. on Jan. 26 on Route 18 northbound near the NJ Turnpike, police said.

During the stop, police said Laroche became non-compliant and was removed from the vehicle, at which time a “large quantity” of marijuana fell out of his lap onto the ground. Authorities did not specify how much marijuana was found.

Upon further investigation, Laroche was also found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun with hollow-point ammunition and a high-capacity magazine being concealed in his pants, authorities said.

Laroche was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point bullets, possession of a high-capacity magazine, distribution of marijuana, possession of a weapon during a CDS offense, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, police said.

He was then lodged in the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending a hearing.

Investigation into the matter is ongoing, and no further information is being released at this time, police said.
