NJ Pakistan Day Parade In Edison On Sunday

The celebrations will include food vendors, music and other activities.

EDISON, NJ — On Sunday, Pakistani Americans will gather in Edison to celebrate Pakistan Day. There will be a parade to celebrate the heritage and unity of Pakistan.

The parade will begin at 4 p.m. from Papaianni Park down Municipal Boulevard and back. Dhol groups and floats from local businesses will be joining the parade.

The NJ Pakistan Day parade first began in 2015. This year’s event will pay tribute to the founder of the parade and community leader, Sam Khan, who died recently.

Youth groups from Rutgers & NJIT PSA (Pakistani Student Americans) will be joining the event.

The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. where organizers will serve free Halwa Puri until 2 p.m.

There will also be food vendors serving delicacies like falooda, samosas, biryani and chai. Additionally, clothing vendors will showcase jewelry and fashion from different regions of Pakistan.

Other activities include a magic show, face painting, kiddie rides, kite flying, and balloons.

After the parade, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. there will be a cultural and musical Program, showcasing various artistic performances.
