Weigh food portions only once

Unless you are a competitive athlete or physique model, leave the food scale in the closet.

Unless you are a competitive athlete or physique model, leave the food scale in the closet.  Weigh once, observe the size of the portion, then trust yourself and put the scale away. Average people are not trying to win any hot body awards, so much as looking for fat loss and increase of lean mass for overall health and performance. Healthy means physiologically and psychologically.  The last thing we need is to promote a medicinal relationship with our foods; the cultural, sociological, emotional and physiological connections we have with them are far too precious to sacrifice.  The aesthetic results will still be there as a nice bonus, and you get to live too.
