The Community Chest Awarded ConnectOne Bank Grant

The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County received a ConnectOne Bank grant for its Professional Development Series.

The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County announces the organization received a grant of $2,500 from ConnectOne Bank. The grant provides partial support for The Community Chest of

Eastern Bergen County's Professional Development Series. The three-part series, which runs from February through April, offers nonprofit management and supervisory staff workshops on a range of topics, including adult mental health first aid, leadership and adapting to changing times quickly, and rethinking personnel management in a post-pandemic period.

"We thank ConnectOne Bank for their support of our Professional Development Series for nonprofit staff. The series will provide nonprofit managers and leaders with training to respond to clients' needs in a rapidly changing environment resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic," said Dr. Shelly Wimpfheimer, Executive Director, The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County.

ConnectOne Bank has participated in The Chest's activities and events. The ConnectOne Bank Community Connections Team Building Event created benches, planter boxes, craft artwork and blankets and presented them to The Chest to give to non-profit organizations that could use them. In 2018, the company was recognized for its involvement in the community and received the Champion Award at The Chest's annual gala.

Celebrating 90th Anniversary

Founded in 1933, The Community Chest of Eastern Bergen County, a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization headquartered in Englewood, New Jersey, has supported local not-for-profit agencies for 90 years. With the motto 'Neighbors Helping Neighbors', The Community Chest leads initiatives and supports nonprofits that make communities stronger and benefit the people of eastern Bergen County in New Jersey. The founders' vision was to fill a chest with individuals and businesses' generous contributions and to empty the contents by awarding grant funds to support worthy projects led by local nonprofits in the area. The Community Chest's Board of Managers is comprised of community leaders dedicated to improving the lives of neighbors in need.

Funds raised in The Community Chest's annual campaign support nonprofits' programs providing social, cultural, recreational, and educational services to residents in the area. Coordinating and planning services are also provided in its communities, serving as a bridge between agencies and organizations and investing in the stability and quality of the service network. The organization's Board of Managers implements a thorough process of screening, research, and monitoring to assure the funds raised are directed to the most worthy programs and the areas of greatest need.
