FREE Art, Design, and Digital Workshops for Aspiring Artists of All Ages at One River Gallery

One River Gallery of Art and Design in Englewood will present free
art, design, and digital workshops for aspiring young artists in
grades K through 12 at a summer
camp open house event on Sunday, March 2
between 11AM and 4PM.  Parents
will have the opportunity to take advantage of a summer camp information
session, refreshments, and to meet the camp’s instructors. 


“Our summer camp open house will give aspiring young artists a taste
of the kind of great
programs we’ll be offering throughout the summer months
,” says Matt Ross,
founder of One River.  “Each of our exciting open house workshops will be led by a member of our expert staff of
professional artists, and will teach a new, fun, and useful skill to each
participating student.”

Grades K-2:


“Drawing Monsters” (11:00-11:45AM)

Students will dig deep into their imaginations and learn important
techniques in line, color, shape, and expression when creating their favorite gruesome,

scary, and crazy beasts.


"Picasso's Guitars" (12:00-12:45PM)


By combining collage, found object sculpture, and stylistic elements
of Cubism and abstraction, students will create their own musical instruments

using images of the famous guitar pieces by Pablo Picasso as inspiration.


“Planes, Trains & Automobiles” (1:00-1:45PM)


Students will examine models and
detailed photographs of motorized vehicles and learn how to show all of the
details and parts that go into making these vehicles move.  Students will also be invited to create an imaginary transportation system.


Grades 3-5:


"Street Art" (11:00-11:45AM)


Students will examine popular techniques used by contemporary street artists who are stepping outside of their studios to bring their work into the
public sphere.  


"Musically Inspired Painting" (12:00-12:45PM)


Students will use different genres of music (pop, rap, classical,
jazz) to inspire their own visual expression.


Teens:


"2D Animation" (11:00-11:45PM)


Students with an interest in computers and digital drawing will get a
glimpse of how to create and manipulate characters using Adobe Flash.


"Photography" (12:00-12:45PM)


Whether using camera phones, video cameras, or still cameras to take pictures, students will learn basic principles of digital photography that will immediately improve their photographic creations.


"Filmmaking” (1:00-1:45PM)


Students will get a
glimpse at the essential techniques used in filmmaking, including directing,
acting, cinematography, and editing.


“Electronic Music
Production”
(2:00-2:45PM)


Newcomers
to music production will be introduced to the technical and creative process of
making beats and manipulating sounds in Ableton Suite 8, the premier software
used in EDM (electronic dance music).  


"Digital Illustration”
(3:00-3:45PM)


Students will mix traditional drawing
techniques with digital training to create digital paintings, vector
illustration, and 3D computer graphics using Wacom tablets and Adobe software.
