Homeless Man Charged With Aggravated Sexual Assault Of Englewood Woman

Woman had a restraining order against the man, Richard Cazassa, 27.

A homeless man was charged with aggravated sexual assault after he allegedly attacked an Englewood woman he knew early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Englewood Police Received a 911 call just after 3:20 a.m. Wednesday from a woman who reported she was physically assaulted, said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli. The woman was taken to Englewood Hospital where she told police she was sexually assaulted as well.

Police identified the suspect, Richard Cazassa Jr., and learned the woman had a domestic violence restraining order against him, Molinelli said.

Englewood police officers found Cazassa and arrested him for contempt of the restraining order.

The investigation led to additional charges being filed against Cazassa Jr. He was charged with aggravated sexual assault and aggravated assault, in addition to the contempt charge.

Cazassa Jr. was remanded to the Passaic County Jail in lieu of $101,000 bail.
