New Jersey Supreme Court Appoints Englewood resident, Louis Pashman to the Special Committee on Attorney Ethics and Admissions

HACKENSACK, N.J., January 6, 2014 –The New Jersey Supreme Court has appointed Pashman Stein Co-Founder and Member of the firm’s Corporate Practice, Louis Pashman, to the Special Committee on Attorney Ethics and Admissions.  The committee was formed to review the recent American Bar Association (ABA) amendments to the Model Rules of Professional Conduct and standards for admission to practice law for attorneys from other jurisdictions.

Pashman, a resident of Englewood, NJ, is a civil trial attorney with extensive experience in corporate law, commercial transactions, estate planning, family law and appellate matters.  He has been recognized as a New Jersey Super Lawyer in the Business Litigation practice area from 2006 to 2103. He is also a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent Rated Lawyer.

In addition, Mr. Pashman is a past Chair of the Disciplinary Review Board, appointed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey; a past Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Committee on State Legislation; a past Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association Committee on Judicial and Prosecutorial Appointments; a past Chair of the Bergen County District II-A Ethics Committee; a past Chair of the Bergen County Legal Services; and a past President of the Bergen County Bar Association among others.

The committee, chaired by retired Chief Justice James R. Zazzali, has been formed in response to the ABA’s recent amendments, which reflect changes in technology and global legal practice. Topics addressed by the ABA’s Commission on Ethics 20/20 include confidentiality in a digital age; ethics issues arising from new forms of advertising; outsourcing of legal services; issues relating to lawyer mobility; choice of law problems related to conflicts of interest; issues relating to practice of out-of-state lawyers; and practice of foreign lawyers in the United States.
