Three Bergen County Students Named Governor's STEM Scholars

Three Bergen County students have been named Governor’s STEM Scholars,
The Governor’s STEM program is a mentorship and leadership program honors high school and college students with interests in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

- Rachel Gleyer is a senior at Bergen County Academies. She plans to study molecular biology in college.
Gleyer’s interests include conducting biological research, especially in gene therapy. She is also trying to design a targeted retroviral vector for therapeutic delivery.
- Briana McRae is also a senior at Bergen County Academies. She plans to study neuroscience in college and is currently conducting research involving glioblastomas, which are brain tumors.
McRae is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Sharing Perspectives Among Real Kids, Lift Her Up, Sources of Strength, and Amnesty International.

- Sara Reyes is a junior at Bergen County Technical High School - Teterboro. She plans to study chemical engineering in college. She is a member of her school’s Interact Club and is a volunteer tutor.
The 59 students will meet quarterly with policymakers and academic and industry professionals to discuss issues affecting STEM education and careers. The Research and Development Council of New Jersey oversees the program.
