'Winning' Powerball Workers Try To Win Jackpot Again

42 employees of Grissini's Restaurant in Englewood Cliffs mistakenly thought they won Saturday's $900 million jackpot.

ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ - The 42 employees of a North Jersey restaurant who thought they won Powerball Saturday are trying their hand again at the elusive dream of winning the now-$1.5 billion lottery.

Three videos of staffers at Grissini’s Restaurant celebrating the “win” were posted online. Employees celebrated and cheered — one person even quit. But the elation was short-lived. Their tickets exactly matched Wednesday’s $528 million prize, not Saturday’s $900 million.

An employee told NJ.com that the staffers have already purchased more than $400 worth of tickets for Wednesday’s $1.5 billion jackpot.

It isn’t clear what prompted the employee to recite the wrong numbers to his coworkers, but whether it was a mistake or a prank, the end result was pandemonium.
