Arrests Made In Fair Lawn Gas Station Attendant Homicide

BREAKING: Ruskin Magamedov, 57, was shot while working at 1st Ave Gas in Paterson Monday night.​

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Two men have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Ruslan Magamedov, a Fair Lawn man who was murdered while working at 1st Ave Gas in Paterson Monday night.

Dennis Barrett, 21, of Paterson and Jorge Martinez, 21, of Garfield, were arrested on felony murder, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and weapons charges after detectives from the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and Paterson Police Department arrested them Thursday, said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said in a news release.

Magamedov, 57, was shot at the gas station, which is near the Fair Lawn border near Route 20, in Paterson, at about 6 p.m. Monday said Valdes. He was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center a short time later, Valdes said.

If convicted, Barrett and Martinez each face up to life imprisonment and must serve at least 30 years of their sentences before being eligible for parole, Valdes said.

Barrett and Martinez were scheduled to appear in Passaic County Superior Court Friday.

Authorities are continuing to investigate Magamedov's murder.
