Bergen School Board Trustee Who Posted Anti-Muslim Comments Asked To Resign
Elmwood Park Board of Education Trustee Gladys Gryskiewicz reportedly told Muslims to "(s)tay in your desserts [sic]."

Embattled Elmwood Park Board of Education Trustee Gladys Gryskiewicz will not resign despite calls from lawmakers and fellow school board trustees for her to do just that.
Posts on Gryskiewicz's Facebook page reportedly told Muslims to "(s)tay in your desserts [sic] and follow your religion in your own countries," a news release from the New Jersey chapter of the Council on American-Islam Relations.
She also said Muslims should be told to leave the country, according to information from the local Council on American-Islam Relations.

"The French told them to get lost and that is what our President should do," one post said, according to the Community News. "Go back to your own country; America needs to get rid of people like you."
Assemblyman Benjie E. Wimberly on Monday said Gryskiewicz should resign.

"Elected officials cannot pick and choose who they represent. We represent everyone one equally in the communities we serve. Mrs. Gryskiewicz comments were discriminatory and divisive," Wimberly said in a statement. "These kinds of remarks should not be tolerated by anyone in public office."
Assemblyman Gary Schaer, the only Orthodox Jewish member of the New Jersey legislature, also said Gryskiewicz should step down immediately, NJ.com reported.
Gryskiewicz's attorney, Evan Goldman, said she regretted posting the comments, but would not resign, The Record reported.
