Fair Lawn High School Boys Basketball on the “Road to Orlando”

Fair Lawn High School Boys Basketball "Road To Orlando" Shoot-a-thon

The Fair Lawn High School Boys Basketball team, led by Coach Rich Micallef, is on the “Road to Orlando”. The team is working hard, has a number of summer leagues and tournaments on its schedule and is focused on the goal of playing in a national tournament in December 2013, in Orlando, Florida. In addition to all of their hard work and commitment, they need your help to get to Orlando.

Coach Micallef and the boys on the team will hold a ‘shoot-a-thon’ this Saturday, April 27th, from 10 a.m. - 12 noon at the Fair Lawn Community Center. This event is open to all in the community with trophies given to the best foul shooters. The boys are hoping for a large turnout at this initial event to jump-start their efforts in getting to Orlando. The vision here is to begin a tradition, with the Fair Lawn community helping the Fair Lawn basketball players make this trip each year, with the younger players helping to support the trip which they themselves wi ll one day make as high school players. We sincerely hope to see your show of support at this event.  Please see below for a letter from Coach Micallef with further details:

The Road To Orlando

April 21, 2013,

Dear Cutter Basketball Supporters:

My name is Rich Micallef and I am the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Fair Lawn High School.  Our team has been invited to participate in the Holiday KSA Basketball Classic Tournament in Orlando, Florida from December 26th-30th 2013.  KSA Events is a non-profit organization, which sponsors high school sporting events and provides individual scholarships to select players competing in KSA events.  The three game tournament will be held at the “Disney Wide World of Sports Complex” in Orlando, Florida.

Since no money is provided by our school district to participate in this prestigious event, every player, coach and manager is responsible for raising his own $1500 to cover the cost of this five day, four night excursion.  This Saturday April 27, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon we will be holding a free throw contest for girls, boys and adults at the Fair Lawn Community Recreational Center to raise money.  25 foul shots for $25.00.  Winners of each age/grade group will receive trophies.  Adults are welcome in our 18 and over category.  If you can’t make it down and would like to donate, our information is below.

I hope you will be interested in supporting your own Fair Lawn Cutters, as it represents not only our school and league, but the town of Fair Lawn and boys basketball in the State of New Jersey.  Go Cutters!

Please email if you have any questions or make checks payable to “FLHS Parents for Athletes Account” and insert boys basketball in the memo portion of your check in c/o:
