Summer Enrichment Music Program at Fair Lawn High School Now Accepting Students

Offerings include courses in Intermediate and Advanced Band and Orchestra; Strings, Woodwinds, Brass and Percussion; Guitar; Jazz Improvisation; Chorus

Area students interested in learning how to play the guitar, percussion, strings, woodwinds, or brass instruments or advance their knowledge in areas of jazz improvisation, orchestra, band, or chorus can now register for the Fair Lawn High School Summer Enrichment Music Program.

The summer music program will run weekdays starting Mon., July 1, through Thur., Aug. 1, with up to four class offerings per day. The program provides performance opportunities as well. Concerts are tentatively scheduled for July 24 and 31 at 10 a.m.

The program will kick off with a parent and student orientation at 9 a.m. on July 1st in the D cafeteria at the high school. Classes will be held on that day at 9:30 a.m. and each class will run for only 15 minutes. Classes on the second day, July 2, will run on the regular daily schedule. Pricing per student is as follows: $135 for one class, $190 for two classes, $235 for three classes, and $270 for four classes. There is no additional registration fee.

To participate in the summer music classes, students must have completed the following grades:

  • Strings, brass, woodwinds and percussion classes and choral workshop: Grade 3
  • Intermediate or Advanced Band or Orchestra (two class periods): Grade 4
  • Beginning or Advanced guitar: Grade 5
  • Jazz/Rock Improvisation and Music Theory: Grade 7

Walk-in registration may also be completed in person on Thurs., June 27 between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Fri., June 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the high school band room D-102. Make checks payable to Fair Lawn Summer Enrichment Music Program. Include student’s name on the check and forms.
