Tom Metzler Farewell Dinner An Unqualified Success
Report on the Farewell Dinner for Tom Metzler held May 11th at the Fair Lawn AC.
Sixty four Fair Lawn residents joined Tom Metzler and his family for an evening of good feelings, good food and camaraderie resulting in a good time for everyone. The attendees had ample opportunity to express their appreciation of Tom's lengthy dedicated service in various capacities and their high regard of him; a fitting reward for his unstinting efforts in their behalf.
Coworkers as well as many residents who recognize Tom's value to the community made for a sea of smiles Saturday evening. In his public comments Mayor Cosgrove made it clear that, despite the anonymous blogs to the contrary, Tom was moving to a job for which he is eminently well qualified, at lower compensation, and that he had declined to take his $10,000 salary increase as Borough Manager because of the town's budget crunch.
Based on merit, Tom Metzler should have remained as Borough Manager for many more years instead of departing because of petty partisan politics. The least the residents could do was host a special evening for him. Mission accomplished!
