Bus Crash Survivors Reportedly Sue Fair Lawn Driver's Estate

Brian Rolando died May 7, 2016 when the Hummer he was in rear-ended a party bus. They claim they were left permanently disabled.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Eight people claiming they were left permanently disabled following a motor vehicle crash last year have sued the dead borough driver of the Hummer that hit the party bus they were in, according to a report.

The eight people claim in a lawsuit they are disabled because Brian Rolando, 27, of Fair Lawn died after he rear-ended the bus at about 3 a.m. in Paterson, NJ.com reported. Rolando was a junior at Montclair State University when he died.

The passengers, all younger than 30, filed the suit in Bergen County Superior Court June 9, according to the report. Most of them suffered back and neck injuries, but some had head injuries, said Christian Ormello, a case manager for Brandon J. Broderick, the attorney who filed the suit, the report said.

Patch could not immediately obtain a copy of the suit. Neither Broderick, nor an assistant from his office, could immediately be reached for comment.

The suit also names Geico, State Farm and Philadelphia Indemnity insurance companies, as they failed to pay claims in the case, according to the report.
