Fair Lawn Man Arrested for Alleged Strong Arm Robbery at 7-Eleven

Police said Michael Siegrist, 23, forcefully shoved the clerk out of his way when he fled the store

The arrested 23-year-old borough resident Michael Siegrist on Tuesday for an alleged strong arm robbery at 7-Eleven on Broadway, according to a department news release.

Police said the robbery occurred at 3:11 a.m. on Feb. 6. On that date, a store employee told Officer Glen Callons that Siegrist—at the time an unknown suspect—entered the store, took several items off the shelf, and concealed the items in his clothes prior to leaving, the release said.

Siegrist forcefully shoved the clerk out of his way when he fled the store, and police were unable to locate Siegrist based on the store employee's partial description of him, according to the release. The case was assigned to detectives Jeffrey Welsh, Timothy O’Shaughnessy and Det. Lt. Michael Uttel for further investigation, and while reviewing the security footage provided by the store, the detectives recognized Siegrist, who they had previously arrested for drugs, police said.

Siegrist was later released from custody after a bond was posted, police said, and is scheduled to appear in municipal court on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
