Fair Lawn Panera Participates in Breast Cancer Awareness Promotion

This October, the Fair Lawn Panera location will sell Pink Ribbon Bagels with part of the proceeds going to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey

Starting Oct. 1, the and seven other Panera locations across Bergen County are honoring National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by bringing back their signature Pink Ribbon Bagel and donating proceeds of its sales to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the state’s first and only Comprehensive Cancer Center dedicated to improving the detection, treatment and care of patients with cancer.

The Pink Ribbon Bagel, which is shaped like the traditional breast cancer awareness ribbon, contains cherry chips and dried bits of Bing cherries and cranberries, vanilla, honey and brown sugar.

For every bagel sold, Panera will donate 10 cents to CINJ to fund breast cancer research and patient education programs. The promotion has netted nearly $30,000 for the Cancer Institute since it began four years ago.

“Panera’s efforts through the Pink Ribbon Bagel Campaign will aid us as New Jersey's only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in continuing novel research efforts to improve cancer care and to identify new opportunities for breast cancer prevention,” CINJ Chief Medical Officer Deborah Toppmeyer said in a press release.
