Fair Lawn Student Finishes 2nd In National Math Competition
11th-grader Andrew Amirov finished 2nd in N.J. on the National Society of Professional Surveyors Trig Star program's exam.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A borough high school student had the second highest score in New Jersey on a prestigious mathematics examination recently.
Andrew Amirov earned an 88 on the National Society of Professional Surveyors Trig Star Program's examination, said Bryan McCourt, an honors precalculus teacher at Fair Lawn High School. All precalculus honors students at Fair Lawn High School took the exam May 24.
The exam consists of three questions which students have 1 hour to complete. Amirov finished the exam in 34 minutes and 33 seconds. Amirov received $250 for his achievement.

"The Fair Lawn High School Mathematics Department congratulates all students who participated in the contest and looks forward to participating in the contest again next year," McCourt said.
