Kids Can Learn All About Police Work At Fair Lawn Academy

Recruits will receive training in police tactics, drug and alcohol awareness, and refusal skills.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Applications for the police department's annual Junior Police Academy will be available beginning Wednesday.

The academy is July 16 to 20.

Recruits will receive training in police tactics, drug and alcohol awareness and refusal skills. They will also see demonstrations conducted by the Bergen County Police K9 Unit, Bomb Squad, and SWAT Team, plus visits by the Fair Lawn Fire Department, Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, and Fair Lawn Ambulance Corps.

Kids need to be between 11 and 14 years old by Aug. 1 to attend.

Applications are available at police headquarters beginning Monday at 9 a.m. Applications are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
