Paramus Driver Dies In Fair Lawn Crash: Police

A 61-year-old Paramus resident died in the accident, which police say isn't considered suspicious at this time.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A Paramus resident died in a multi-vehicle crash Monday evening in Fair Lawn, police said.

According to police, Cemile Akguc, 61, of Paramus was travelling south on Saddle River Road when their Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a telephone pole and a traffic control box at the intersection of Fair Lawn Ave.

Then, police said, the Jeep continued through the intersection, where it struck a fence and came to a stop after striking a tree.

The force of the crash caused a telephone pole to be "thrown into" the back of a Mercedes-Benz which was travelling west on Saddle River Road.

A Toyota was also involved in the accident, when it was struck by the traffic control box which had been hit by the Jeep.

Akguc was found dead on the scene, but the other two drivers involved were uninjured, according to authorities.

The crash is not considered suspicious at this time, police said.

Saddle River Road is closed to traffic in the area of Fair Lawn Avenue. The latter is open for traffic travelling east into Paramus and west into Fair Lawn.
