More Fair Lawn Students Taking AP Courses, Achieving Higher Scores (TAPinto.net) — Fair Lawn parents get some encouraging news: more high school students are taking Advanced Placement classes and a higher percentage are passing the exams than just a few years ago. Superintendent Rui Dionisio detailed rising National Merit recognition, AP participation, and success rates at the recent Board of Education meeting, crediting targeted outreach and teacher support for helping more students tackle challenging coursework.
   

2. North Jersey contest crowns top town crier for America's 250th (burlingtoncountytimes.com) — Fair Lawn just hosted its first International Town Crier Competition at the borough Community Center, drawing criers from several states and Canada in full Colonial costume. While the overall title went to Maryland's official crier, Fair Lawn high schooler Tyler Jerchower won the student division, as part of the town's broader celebration of America's 250th and efforts to keep this historic tradition alive.
   

3. Events This Week in New Jersey from October 6-12, 2026 (newjerseystage.com) — Fair Lawn residents can catch the Adelphi Orchestra opening its 73rd season in town on Saturday, October 10, with an "American Voices at 250" program marking the nation's semiquincentennial. The broader roundup also spotlights dozens of concerts, plays, comedy shows, film screenings, and community events across New Jersey this week, offering plenty of options for a fall outing.
   

4. 2026 Bergen County girls volleyball tournament bracket, results (northjersey.com) — Fair Lawn girls volleyball is seeded 20th in the Bergen County tournament and will travel to face 13th-seeded Ramsey on Thursday, October 8, in a best-of-five match. Winners advance toward later rounds at Old Tappan on October 10 and beyond, while first-round losers move into the separate Bergen Invitational Tournament to keep their postseason going.
