Pursuit Of Stolen Vehicle Causes Wreck, Injuries: Fair Lawn PD
UPDATE: A Bronx man stole a car and led Hackensack, Paramus and Fair Lawn Police in pursuit, resulting in a multi-car crash in Fair Lawn.
FAIR LAWN, NJ — A man from the Bronx stole a car and led officers from Paramus, Hackensack and Fair Lawn in pursuit, before eventually crashing the stolen vehicle, police say.
According to Paramus Police, officers from that department assisted a Hackensack officer in stopping a stolen vehicle. A Paramus officer was able to stop the car, but as officers got out of their vehicles to approach, the driver of the stolen car, Kenneth Barrer, 31, sped off, police say.
Fair Lawn Police were notified by Paramus officers of a northbound pursuit on Plaza Road around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the chase ended when Barrer crashed the stolen car into an SUV, causing that vehicle to crash into three others stopped at a traffic light on Plaza Road North.
The 62-year-old driver of the SUV sustained non-life threatening injuries to his leg, arm and chest. He was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson.

Two others were injured as pieces of the vehicle struck their legs as they were waiting to cross the street. Their injuries were minor, and they were treated and released on the scene, police say.
Barrer was transferred to New Bridge Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries, according to Paramus Police.
Barrer and a passenger, Ebony M. Rogers-Fields, were arrested by Paramus Police and transported to their department, Fair Lawn Police say.
He was charged with careless driving, assault by auto speeding, failure to observe a traffic signal and failure to stop or yield by Fair Lawn Police, and possession of stolen property, eluding arrest and multiple motor vehicle violations in Paramus.
Rogers-Fields is charged with one count of possession of stolen property. She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 7.
