"As we showed at trial — and the jury agreed — Greenspan abused his position and broke a wide range of federal laws when he accepted cash bribes and other illicit services in return for blood test referrals to [Biodiagnostic Laboratory Services],” U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said.

Greenspan accepted more than $200,000 in kickbacks and bribes from March 2006 to April 2013 from BLS associates and employees in return for him referring $3 million in business to BLS, court documents showed.

BLS allegedly gave a job to an employee Greenspan was having a sexual relationship with and a holiday office party, according to the criminal complaint filed against him.
Greenspan's attorney told the Associated Press that his client's dealings with the lab were "legal" and "legitimate."
