Several People Charged With Shoplifting Last Week, Police Said
Several shoplifting incidents were reported at CVS recently, police said.

- Officers Geovanny Buitron and Stephen Buskiewicz responded to a residence on 20th Street after a vehicle drove onto their lawn, then fled the scene. Following the trail of fluids left in the roadway by the fleeing vehicle, officers found the vehicle in a parking lot on Route 208 southbound and arrested the operator, Daniel Akdemir, 25, of Paramus, after he failed a roadside sobriety test and evidence of marijuana use was discovered inside the vehicle, police said.
Akdemir was released to a family member after being charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to observe a single traffic lane, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash, failure to report a motor vehicle crash, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving while intoxicated and CDS in a motor vehicle, police said.

- Sgt. Paul Scott initiated a motor vehicle stop on Fair Lawn Avenue at 4th Street and arrested the operator, Sebastian Dickson, 35, of Hackensack, after discovering an arrest warrant out of Hackensack for $89, police said. Scott was charged with disobeying a traffic control device and operating with a suspended license, then was handed over to Hackensack Police, police said.
- Detectives Paul Donohue and Mark Wyka initiated a motor vehicle stop on Route 4 eastbound near Saddle River Road and arrested the operator, Kevin Linhart, 31, of New City, New York, and Adrianne Grassi, 31, of Congers, New York, after evidence of drug use was discovered inside the vehicle, police said. Both were released after being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic needle, police said.
- Officers Justin DeGuglielmo Robert Manning initiated a motor vehicle stop on Route 20 south at Broadway in Paterson after a report of a shoplifter who fled CVS, 18-35 River Road, and arrested the operator, Matthew Burr, 37, of Piscataway, and Vino Jones, 53, of Newark, after unpaid items, totaling $723.43, and evidence of drug use were located inside the vehicle, police said. Burr was released after being charged with shoplifting; Jones was released after being charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Officer Chris O’Shaughnessy initiated a motor vehicle stop on Route 208 south at Fair Lawn Avenue and arrested the passenger, Demara Hall, 25, of Paterson, after discovering an arrest warrant out of Prospect Park for $464, police said. She was turned over to Prospect Park police.
Sept. 19
Officer Mark Roskowsky initiated a motor vehicle stop on Fairmount Place at Plaza Road and arrested the operator, Rashawn Kiffin, 31 of Paterson, after finding marijuana inside the vehicle, police said. Kiffin was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Officer Juan Rodriguez initiated a motor vehicle stop on Route 208 south at Virginia Drive and arrested the operator, Kevin Linhart, 31 of New City, New York, after finding evidence of drug use inside the vehicle, police said. Rodriguez was released after being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a hypodermic needle, police said.
Officer Nicholas Snyder initiated a motor vehicle stop on Morlot Avenue at McKinley Street and arrested the operator, Talia Merom, 36, of Garfield, after evidence of drug use was discovered inside the vehicle, police said. Arrest warrants were also discovered out of Hawthorne $1,500) and South Hackensack, $265, police said. Snyder was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle, vehicle view obstruction, and operating with a suspended license, then was handed over to Hawthorne police, authorities said.
Sept. 21
- Several police officers responded to CVS, 18-35 River Road, on a report of a shoplifting and arrested Malcolm Cobb, 54, of Paterson, outside the store with unpaid items on his person, police said.
Kevin Heycoop, 31, of Highland Lakes, was found inside the store and was also arrested; a total of $103.99 in unpaid items were found, police said. Cobb was released after being charged with shoplifting, police said.
Heycoop, who had evidence of drug use discovered inside the vehicle, was released after being charged with shoplifting, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic needle, police said.
- Several police responded to Berdan Grove Park on a report of parties sleeping in the park and arrested Adam Omar, 18, of Paterson, after marijuana was discovered with his belongings, police said. An arrest warrant was also discovered out of South Hackensack for $750, police said; Omar was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, then handed over to South Hackensack police, authorities said.
Detectives Anthony Lugo and Paul Donohue approached a suspicious person walking on Fair Lawn Avenue at 2nd Street and arrested Susan Smith, age 32 of Paterson, after finding unpaid items totaling $94.98 inside her purse, police said. An arrest warrant out of Bayonne for $5,000 was discovered. She was charged with shoplifting, then handed over to Bayonne police, authorities said.
Sept. 23
- Lt. James Corcoran approached Ethan Wald, age 24 of Fair Lawn, outside a business on River Road and arrested him with knowledge of an arrest warrant out of Prospect Park for $2,284, police said. Wald was handed over to Prospect Park police, authorities said.
- Several police officers responded to Brookdale Park on a report of suspicious people walking through the park. They located them on Blue Hill Avenue at Winslow Terrace and arrested Irving Plummer, 25, of Paterson, and Xavier Monroe, 25, of Paterson, after locating drugs on both, police said. Plummer was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), police said.
Monroe was charged with two counts of CDS, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said; bail was set at $2500 with a 10% option. He was released after bail was posted, police said.
Sept. 24
- Several police officers responded to 7-Eleven, 31-28 Broadway, on a report of two males harassing female customers and arrested John Phelan, 24, of Lodi, after arrest warrants were discovered out of Passaic ($3,500), Saddle Brook ($520), and Paterson ($34), police said. Phelan was turned over to Passaic police, authorities said.
- Officer Juan Hinojosa approached a parked vehicle with someone sleeping inside in the parking lot on River Road at Bergen Avenue and arrested Dhanraj Budhoo, 35, of Jersey City, after discovering an arrest warrant out of Ridgefield for $165, police said. Budhoo was released after bail was posted, police said.
