Candlelight Vigil

To remember those who have been affected or continue to be affected by domestic violence.

SAFE in Hunterdon invites all community members to stand in solidarity as we promote National Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October.

Flemington, New Jersey-October 18, 2018-October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence impacts one in four families here in Hunterdon County. SAFE in Hunterdon, Hunterdon County’s domestic violence and sexual assault agency for over 40 years, will be partnering with community members to call attention to those who have been or continue to be affected by domestic violence at their annual Candlelight Vigil.

This annual vigil reaches out to victims, celebrates survivors and brings awareness to the damaging effects domestic violence has on the lives of our loved ones, families and neighbors in Hunterdon County. The program will begin at 5:00 pm with a live musical performance by The Hunterdon Harmonizers and light refreshments. Karen Carbonello, Executive Director of SAFE in Hunterdon, will deliver the keynote address, along with a survivor who will share her story. Speaking on behalf of NJCEDV and as a member of the NJ Domestic Violence Fatality and Near Fatality Review Board, Nicole Morella will share findings on domestic violence-related fatalities, reminding us to learn from these losses by improving systemic and community response to domestic violence.
