Will Be Available To Schools
Freeholder John E. Lanza, the Board’s liaison for Public Safety, reported at the December 4th meeting that the Freeholders have agreed to a pilot project with a technology firm to provide the base cloud server for digital structure mapping of schools and other buildings around the County.
Lanza said, “The mapping program will make available in critical incidents floor plans and structural guides provided by participating schools and other entities, digitally and remotely to Police, Rescue Squad responders and Fire fighters, via cell phones, tablets, and laptops.
Public Safety units responding to events, whether they are fires, health emergencies, active shooter responses or other incidents, will have at their fingertips the ability to better direct resources to specific areas within structures with this technology. This is the kind of public safety tool that can save lives.”
The technology company, the Critical Response Group (CRG), has been contracted by Hunterdon County to provide the cloud server to support the program, which the County Prosecutor’s Office will manage.
Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, stated, “I applaud our Hunterdon County Freeholders for the foresight to invest in this cutting-edge technology which will be used to enhance our ability to respond and react to critical incidents at schools and buildings in Hunterdon County.
This valuable tool will combine aerial imagery, building floor plans, and critical features into a geospatially accurate, gridded smart graphic which can be accessed by first responders using a cellphone app. We continue to work together with our county officials, school superintendents, local law enforcement agencies, and first responders to ensure our schools and public buildings are safe.”
Schools or other entities interested in participating in the mapping program should contact Lt. Kevin Burd of the Prosecutor’s Office, at 908-788-1129.
