Hunterdon County’s Building and Maintenance Division Receives Safety Award For Zero Lost Time Record

Logging in 56,700 hours without lost time due to work-related illness or injury during 2016 and 2017 has earned Hunterdon County’s Building and Maintenance Division the Merit Safety Award from the State’s Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Freeholder Director Matt Holt said, “Anytime a County unit has an exceptional achievement, it is important to the Freeholder Board to recognize their efforts. This award demonstrates the Division’s commitment to health and safety, while doing a good job for their fellow workers and the people of the County.”

The New Jersey State Department of Labor and Workforce Development recently held the 90th Annual Governor’s Occupation Safety and Health Awards Program on May 18. Hunterdon County was eligible to earn the Division of Public Safety and Occupational Safety and Health Award of Merit due to its safety records established in 2016 and 2017 with consecutively earned Citation of Merit Awards.

The Building and Maintenance Division is responsible for all County Route 12 buildings, Administration buildings, the Justice Center, Gauntt Place buildings, all County garages, Heron Glen, Parks Division buildings, The Communications Center, and the Fire School. The Division work to ensure public access and maintaining clean, healthy and operationally sound work environment, in over thirty-two county facilities.

Justin Tibbetts, Buildings and Maintenance Division Head said, “Our goal every day is to keep our County employees and visitors to County facilities as safe as possible. We have a great, hard-working team in the Buildings and Maintenance Division. It is a well-deserved Citation of Merit for maintaining safety on the job for two consecutive years.”
