Most Sign Ups Ever For

Hunterdon Summer Nature Program For Kids

The Hunterdon County Parks and Recreation Division’s Summer Nature Programs will have the largest ever level of participation of school children this summer, County Parks Director Dan Bush reported at the Board of Freeholders’ meeting, in East Amwell on June 19th.

Bush told the Freeholders, “Currently we have 540 school age children, our most ever, enrolled in our Summer Nature Programs, including environmental camp, the Senior and Junior explorers, Pioneer/Nature Discovery programs and even four sessions on Nature Bugs.

And while there is a waiting list for some of the programs, there are still some slots open in certain camps. Information on what is still available can be found on the Parks and Recreation section of the County website, http://www.co.hunterdon.nj.us/depts/parks/parks.htm.”

Freeholder John W. King, the Board’s liaison for Parks and Recreation, stated, “The County’s summer nature programs are of a great educational and recreational benefit to Hunterdon County school children. It gets kids away from the video games and out into nature. The program’s growth can be directly attributed to the creativity and dedication of the Parks and Recreation staff.”

Summer camp programs are held at Teetertown preserve (Mountain Farm) in Lebanon Township and Echo Hill in Clinton Township.
