Rep. Lance Deserves Recognition for Standing Up for NJ Taxpayers
A Long-Time Watchdog for NJ Taxpayers, Rep. Lance Opposes Budget Gimmicks like Opening the Arctic to Drilling as part of Tax Reform.
Representative Leonard Lance has long been a watchdog for NJ taxpayers. His leadership role in the ongoing debate on tax reform is a prime example.
Not only did he reach across the aisle to offer a plan with Rep. Gottheimer to preserve the State and Local Tax (SALT) deduction, he signed on to a letter opposing the inclusion of budget gimmicks like opening the arctic to drilling in the plan. Such a move would not only permanently destroy one of our nation's most pristine coastal plains, it would likely balloon the national debt.
Disappointingly, the GOP leadership did not have the foresight to listen to Rep. Lance’s sensible recommendations, leaving us with a compromise bill that will likely be voted on by Congress this week that strictly narrows SALT and opens the Arctic to unnecessary and costly gas and oil exploration.

Rep. Lance deserves recognition for his efforts for NJ taxpayers. If only more legislators had the same courage and leadership than we’d really have the sweeping tax relief we deserve in time for the holidays.
