Tour Historic Flemington Homes, Gardens, Courthouse Where Lindbergh Trial Unfolded
Historic Preservation Commission's June 6 event features five new properties, free trolley and guided jail tours.
FLEMINGTON, NJ - The Flemington Historic Preservation Commission will host its 2026 House and Gardens Tour of Historic Flemington on Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with tickets now on sale.
This year's tour includes five homes not featured on previous tours, along with private gardens and returning favorites. Among the highlights is the historic Hunterdon County Courthouse, site of the 1935 Lindbergh kidnapping trial, and the jail and cellblock where Bruno Hauptmann was held during the proceedings. Guided courthouse and jail tours will be offered at 11 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., or visitors may tour at their own pace.
The tour showcases Flemington's eclectic architectural heritage, including Victorian, Greek Revival, Gothic, Colonial, Second Empire and early 20th century styles. More than 65% of Flemington's buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the borough is known for having the largest concentration of Victorian architecture outside Cape May.
