Bergen Man Dies Following George Washington Bridge Jump
Rafael Mendoza, 37, jumped from the bridge Monday afternoon, police said.

FORT LEE, N.J. – A Hackensack man died after jumping from the George Washington Bridge Monday, police said.
Rafael Mendoza, 37, jumped from the upper level’s walkway shortly after 5 p.m., said Port Authority Police Department spokesman Joe Pentangelo.
A woman told police she saw a man stop his silver Honda on the bridge mid span, get out, climb over the railing, and jump off the bridge, Pentangelo said.

Mendoza's body was pulled from the Hudson River and he was pronounced dead at the West 125th Street Pier in New York City.
It is the fourth suicide from the bridge this year, Pentangelo said.
