Car Going 74 MPH In Fatal Curb-Jumping Accident, Report Says
The driver was charged with two counts of death by auto after two teens were killed walking near a North Jersey school Saturday.

One person has been arrested and charged with death by auto in connection with the death of two teenagers, including one from Bergen County, who were killed Saturday when a car jumped a curb, crashing into them, authorities said Monday.
Noel Herrera, 17, of Cliffside Park and Bryan Rodriguez, 16, of Union City were killed and a third teen, 17, was critically injured in the incident that occurred in North Bergen near Union City High School, according to Hudson County Sheriff Frank X. Schillari.
The car was going 74 miles per hour, Schillari said at a press conference Monday afternoon, The Record said.

The driver is facing two counts of death by auto, has been driving with a suspended license, authorities said.
The driver had allegedly gotten into a fight with a girlfriend and may have taken drugs before getting behind the wheel of the car and barreling into the victims, NBC Philadelphia reported.

Authorities did not say why the car jumped the curb. Schillari said more information would be released at a news conferenced scheduled for 1 p.m. today at the North Bergen Municipal Chambers.
“The Cliffside Park School District is deeply saddened by the loss of Noel Herrera who was an eighth grade student in our Middle School. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends,” a statement on the Cliffside Park School District’s website said.
Cliffside Park school officials planned to have a crisis team in place Monday to help students.
