FORT LEE BOARD OF EDUCATION ELECTIONS

Election Day: November 3, 2015. Resumes for All Board of Education Candidates.

Tuesday, November 3, 2015 is Election Day. The citizens of Fort Lee, New Jersey will have the opportunity to vote for State General Assembly candidates; Members of the Board of Chosen Freeholders; Mayor of Fort Lee; and members of the Fort Lee Borough Council.

For the first time in many years, Fort Lee residents will have the opportunity to actually “elect” members of the Fort Lee Board of Education. In past years, for the most part, there would be three empty seats and three candidates running, making the election results moot. But in 2015, we actually have five candidates running, four who have registered and one who is running as a write-in candidate.

Running for the Fort Lee Board of Education are three incumbents, David Sarnoff;Esther Han Silver, and Holly Morell ,with the additional candidacy of two respected citizens, Jerry Cichelli, and Michael Rubino (write-in). With overcrowding in Fort Lee schools and numerous other major issues facing our community, the individuals that we elect are critical to the future of Fort Lee.

Included in this blog are resumes for the candidates. Also included is a photo of the sample ballot. Please notice that BOE candidates are listed at the very bottom of the ballot, often ignored by the general population. It is important to pay attention when voting and to make sure that you notice that these candidates are listed separately.

Please take the time to learn about the candidates and to select carefully. Most importantly, please make the effort to get to the polls. Our children’s future is dependent on the results of this election! Remember that absentee ballots are available for individuals that have difficulty getting to the polls or who will be out of town at the time of the election.
