Anna C. Scott School will recognize Superintendent Joanne Megargee at its international food event

Leonia Superintendent Joanne Megargee will be presented with an award tomorrow night recognizing her commitment to fostering diversity and sustainability in the borough's schools.
The award will be presented at the ACS Global Feast April 6 (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.) held at Anna C. Scott Elementary School. The annual event celebrates Leonia's diversity with cuisines from over 40 countries.
Superintendent Megargee will be retiring after 27 years leading schools in the borough, where 46% of residents are foreign-born.

On the sustainability front, she worked with the Leonia Action Alliance to ban styrofoam cafeteria trays; these and other environmental efforts helped win a $10,000 grant from the New Jersey Education Association. Last year, Megargee was named Bergen County Superintendent of the Year.
The award will be presented by ACS Home and School Association Diversity Chair Shehrina Tabassum.
