Man Owes $2,900 In Unpaid GWB Tolls, Police Say
Kamal M. Alzanam, 27, gave police a false name and used a stolen EZPass transponder, police said.

FORT LEE, N.J. — A Manhattan man who owes $3,000 in unpaid George Washington Bridge fines was arrested Friday after he failed to pay the bridge's toll, police said.
Kamal M. Alzanam, 27, drove a 2014 Nissan through the bridge's upper level toll plaza without paying. The toll indicator displayed "toll unpad" and he was pulled over by Port Authority Police, said Joe Pentangelo, Port Authority spokesman.
Alzanam, of Manhattan, provided police with a false name and an EZPass transponder that had been reported stolen from a Hertz rental car in December 2015, Pentangelo said. He also had a Georgia's driver's license and health insurance card that were not his, authorities said.

The transponder reportedly had incurred a total of 45 violations totalling $2,899, all from the George Washington Bridge, Pentangelo said.
Alzanam's true identity was determined from his fingerprints; he had warrants out for his arrest from Mount Laurel and Maryland.

Alzanam's bail was set at $10,000 with no 10 percent option. The car he was driving was impounded, Pentangelo said.
