Police Release IDs Of NJ 5-Year-Old, Man Killed In GWB Crash

The SUV the girl and her father were in struck the back of a tractor-trailer on the NY side of the bridge Wednesday night, police said.

FORT LEE, NJ — Police have released the identities of the 5-year-old and man who were killed after the SUV their family was in crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer on the George Washington Bridge Wednesday night.

Five-year-old Marianna Pedercini and her father, Hector Pedercini, 50, of Howell, were pronounced dead at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, said Port Authority Police.

Three other people were in the SUV: Hector Pedercini's wife and Marianna's mother, Mariella Pedercini, 40, her 1-year-old child, whose name was not released, and her mother, 64-year-old Elda Lainez, also of Howell. They were also taken to Columbia Presbyterian, police said.

The family's GMC Acadia struck the back of a tractor-trailer that was stopped in the left lane on the eastbound upper level on the New York side of the bridge.

The 59-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, police said.
