Eligible donors are urged to participate in the drive and help bring "hope, healing and a second chance" to people in the community.
FREEHOLD, NJ — The Freehold Borough Board of Health and Mayor’s Wellness Committee are set to host a community blood drive with the American Red Cross this summer.
On June 23 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., the blood drive will run at the Freehold Elks Lodge, which is located at 73 East Main Street.
“Hosting a blood drive coincides with the Board of Health’s core values of giving back to the community,” said Alexis Goodman, RN, BSN, CPAN and Board Chairperson.

“As an active Registered Nurse in this community, I see firsthand how critical blood products are," Goodman continued. "Giving blood is a simple act that takes less than an hour but can make a lifelong difference for someone in need.”
According to the Red Cross, blood is routinely transfused to patients with cancer and other diseases, premature babies,
organ transplant recipients and trauma victims.

“The short amount of time it takes to donate can mean a lifetime to a patient with a serious medical condition," officials said.
The Board of Health and Mayor's Wellness Committee are urging eligible donors to join them for the blood drive to help give "hope, healing, and a second chance to people in our community.”
Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, B negative and A negative.
According to the Red Cross, type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone, and is often used to treat trauma patients.
All donors will receive a $15 e-gift card for their donation.
