Andrew DePass from Freehold, a student at Quinnipiac University, was honored recently.

FREEHOLD, NJ — A Freehold resident has received an award for his cancer biology presentation at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Andrew DePass of Freehold, a sophomore biology major at Quinnipiac University, conducted research on mice last summer to learn about T-cell immunity in cancer patients after they undergo chemotherapy and radiation. He then presented his research in the conference’s “Cancer Biology” category. His winning entry was among submissions from 2,100 students representing colleges and universities across the country.

"This experience has made me more excited to pursue a future career in scientific research and has exposed me to what can be accomplished in the field of research," DePass said.
